Zeven => Cloppenburg

Bremenin pyöräkatu 

Hotellihuoneen ikkunasta näkymä parkkipaikalle.  Mustarastaat ja sepelkyyhkyt laulavat täälläkin. Rauhallista oli yöllä täällä 14000 asukkaan Zevenissä, jonne en varmasti ikinä olisi muutoin kuin fillarilla sattunut. 

Vaikka Zevenin historia alkaakin vuodesta 986 ja kaupunkia ovat hallinneet ruotsalaiset ja tanskalaiset, niin aika ja sodat ovat pyyhkineet historialliset rakennukset pois. Jäljellä on tavanomaista luterilaista pohjoista Saksaa: omakotitaloja, Lidl, bensa-asemia, maaseudun ajoneuvoja. 

Tänään matkan 2. pyöräilypäivänä tavoitteena on Cloppenburg. Matkaa 111km, matkan varrella Bremen, jonka keskustan läpi reittini kulkee. Reitti seuraa eurovelo 3-reittiä, jota aion polkea myös Espanjassa. Tuuli on vastainen, onneksi aamupäivällä heikohko. 

Aamiaisella nyt. Pitäisi syödä hiilareita, mutta aikaisin ruokahaluni on heikko. Hissukseen siis ruokailukin kuten pyöräilykin. 

 My second cycling day took me from Zeven to Cloppenburg via Bremen. On the way I had coffee twice (by the Bremen Dom and in Wildeshausen (a small town in the middle of countryside, fields, and huge pig raising facilities with their rather distinctive smell). 

The first picture is from Bremen. Komoot routed me on this nice cycling street. Speaking of routing, Garmin cannot really handle a situation where a street is blocked. It is stubborn and tries to route to the closed street even after I ask it to reroute. For this reason, it makes sense to have Open street map with bike paths on the phone. 

An elderly man cycled by me when I was looking at the phone and studying the map. He said that instead of phone, It would be better to the free paper cycling maps from ADFC (the German cycling club). He was really serious and berated me for a while. 

Ok, now it is time for beer. The receptionist said that she will open the hotel bar once I have taken shower. This hotel is one of many ADFC certified bike@bett hotels. So, the receptionist knows how to work with cyclists. 

Today was 115km, thus 279/3300km. And it was headwind all the way, 6-11m/s. Not fun at all.
