First impression of Matera
Wohoo! It us again. We, Freddie and Bärnilla , are back online.
Let us tell about today. We left Bari by a narrow gauge train. Small, slow and smelly (diesel fumes) took us to Matera. The timetable said we should change trains in Altamira, but the train decided to travel all the way or rail to Matera Central, some 300 meters from our cheap but comfortable hotel. Only 34€ per night and day. With breakfast. And WiFi.
Then we had some wine. It did not help hippy friend. His fear of heights was too bad, we couldn’t get to the cave church on a hill. But we got Aperol and sunshine. Not bad.
In the morning evening, after walking , we had dinner in our local restaurant Trattoria Lucana. Delicious food, warm atmosphere and friendly service. See pics.
Tomorrow, if th weather allows, we will visit the cave church. For sure.

This is a beautiful town. We will stay for a few days.
