Stage 4: Petershagen to Augustdorf, 70km
My virtual bicycle tour to Girona continues. Today I cycled from Petershagen to Augustdorf in lovely summer weather. The sun shone for the most of time, there was no wind to complain about and even some scent of flowers. The route took me via Bad Oyenhausen and Bad Salzulfen, and the first part was really nice.
The bike lane followed the rivers Weser and Werre. And even with a small detour, the views were worth the extra kilometres.
And after a short walk, it was time to call it a day.

Bad Oyenshousen is really a spa town. There are several spas, one in an impressive old building. Unfortunately, I did not have time for a spa treatment, but I spend some time in the geometric garden contemplating the spa tradition. Having fun and relaxing in water with friends must be something from very old evolutionary past, just like drinking beer is.

After Bad Oyenhausen, the first climb: 7 kilometers of 3%, nice easy effort. I am certainly not fit at the moment, but I am slowly riding myself into fitness. The first days of any bicycle tour almost should be hard, then after a week riding will get easier - unless one go faster.
Lunch time, arriving in Bad Salzuflen, really hungry. I found a falafel shop and had two with a pint of beer. After all, it is Germany, the land of Turkish food and beer.

I booked a room in Apartment mit Gartenblick , found it easily, and performed the bicyclist's evening routine: shower, hand washing the riding clothes ("kit") and surfing the internet. Then it was time to find a restaurant. Wenzels Ratsstuben turned out to be a decent one, with beer and Hähnchenbrustfilet im Mandelmantel gebraten, Ananas, Pfirsich delicious and large enough.
