Stage 7: Burgwald to Staufenberg, 48km

My virtual bicycle tour to Girona continues. Today was almost a rest day, for I was really tired. It is also Friday, and I wanted to take time for drinking beer and enjoying life. As they say, there is more to life than cycling, but not much more. 

So, how was my ride from Burgwald to Staufenberg. Easy, no major hills, no head wind. But with my tired legs, no too easy either. I had to take a longer break, and one pint of beer with some curry wurst in Marburg. 

Marburg, the town famous for its university, and the infamous Marburg virus, an extremely dangerous virus causing  viral hemorrhagic fever. Not that virus would be endemic in Marburg, it happend to be classified there in 1967.

My own memories of Marburg have to do with health care as well. Back in 1999 were on car trip from Berlin to Brussels. Before Marburg, we stopped to fill up the gas tank, and I bought a can of

energy drink Hemp Exctract. It was really refreshing, but in two hours I began to turn red. First my hands, the my torso and later, at the time we reached the EA at local hospital, my face as well. At the EA, the doctor came to the reception and asked: "Who has a problem? Ach, Der mit dem rotem Geschict!". They gave me an injection of cortisone and I was OK again. 

Nothing so dramatic this time. Only having a pint of beer in the Biergarten Spiegelslust.

After the beer, it was time to cycle as far as I just had energy. I end up in Staufenberg, another small town Germany. And there I found a castle for myself, the Hotel Burg Staufenberg. There is nothing to tell about Staufenberg except that the castle serves very good beer.
