Parempi jännittää kuin jänistää.
Viikko pari sitten poljin 5 päivän aikana yli 700km, pisin päivämatka mäkisessä maastossa (Lit-en- Mixestä Donostiaan) oli 148km. Tänään matkaa on 72km. En ymmärrä miksi tänään tuntuu ylivoimaiselta. Kuntoni on varmasti vähintäänkin yhtä hyvä kuin pari viikko sitten. Mikä ihme minua vaivaa? Ensimmäinen retkipäivä (tasaisella, mutta silti) oli 133km. Sekin meni hyvin.
Oli miten oli, Ponferradassa on ollut mukavaa viettää lepopäiviä, kaupunkilomaa. Olen tehnyt joka päivä yhden jutun (korjauttanut fillarin, ostanut latausjohtoja, käynyt linnassa) ja muuten vain ollut.
Hotellin aamiainen alkaa kohta. Syön ja lähden sitten hissukseen kohti Becerreaa. Se on pieni kyllä, josta olen varannut majoituksen. Toivottavasti siellä on ruokakauppa ja jokin ravintola illalla ruokaa tarjoilemassa.
Lissaboniin on noin 800km. Aikaa on 10 päivää. Saatan ehtiä perille junailematta, mutta en pidä junaan turvatumista nolona epäonnistumisena.

Today’s ride was supposed to be simple: flat 40km, then 10km with 400m ascent and then downhill to Bereccea - of course with some worries about downhill being scary.
It did not quite turn out so. The road I had planned to take, N-VI, was impassable for some reason. Instead cyclists had to take the same old road as pedestrian pilgrims.
It was steep indeed. First it was 6km of 9-13% (I had to push my bicycle when the climb was 12% or more for longer stretches).
At 4.5km someone had written on the road “1,5 to the top, bar”. There was a bar. There were also many other tired cyclists. And a surprise: the climb continued for another 1.5km and 150m vertical.
But I made it. 650m climbing in 1 hour of movement and 30 minutes drinking Coca-Cola.
Downhill from 1300m to 550m was not scary. The road was quiet, its surface very good, not too steep at all. I even enjoyed coasting downhill. There were some long and high bridges, so scary.
On the way I met two Spanish couples riding towards a Santiago. They had their own service van with them. I wonder whether they used the van to climb the steep hill. There was also taxis taking people and bikes up the hill.
In Becerrea I was clever enough to have lunch before checking in my hotel. Three course meal 13€! 81km, 4h37, 17.5km/h.
