Girona gran fondo hill climb 2017 - a very short note
The Girona Gran Fondo has three events. Today we took up the challenging Hill Climb. It is a very simple uphill time trial up Els Angles, the nearest and dearest small mountain around here. The specs are: 10.4km, elevation difference about 430 meters, with some 6-8% sections and even with two shorts downhill sections. And today it was 36C. Not exactly cold. I have been celebrating my new job as the chief architect of the Municipality Financing way too much. Celebrating means - at least for me - beer and food. So, by first being very stressed by the interview process and then celebrating, I have rather well destroyed any fitness I had after winter. Oh well. Anyhow, one must rise to the occasion. Or something. Up I went, as fast as I could. Many faster - and skinnier, younger and older - cyclist went past me. But I did not mind. My only goal was to ride as fast as I ever could. And so I did: my average heart rate was 175bpm, with the last 2 km being around 185bpm. Both rather ...
