Summer is not, so I will remain in vacation mode and in holiday mood for quite a while still. Such a great holiday. Bicycle 🚲 touring in France 🇫🇷 and Finland 🇫🇮, maybe 1100km cycling, some 🚵‍♀️ and nice new towns and villages and pre historical sites. And not only cycling, but also city life in Paris and Bordeaux. Not to speak about good food, gourmet dinners and refreshing drinks. And maybe 100 litres of water. Been rather warm. Staying overnight in 13 places in 3 weeks. Staying at home only 36 hours. Riding TGV! But most of all, meeting and spending time with friends in Paris, Verla, Lemi, Anttila and Rauh...

Very fond of the one and only @pedalling_philosopher, Sirkku klo 21.36 Aivan fantastista täällä Verlassa: kesämökillä, josta on 700 metriä kahvilaan, josta voi ostaa hyvää kahvia ja juustokakkua ja jossa (kahvilassa siis) on tuttuja töissä. Kahvilassa on myös tarjolla lounasta! Ja kahvilan naapurista voi ostaa paikallisia viinejä. Baarikin on. Ja sitten on sauna ja järvi ja koski. Ja tietenkin sisävessa. Täydellistä mökkeilyä tämmöinen. Perjantai 27.7.2018 klo 0.05 Boat trip in lake Saimaa. Such a beautiful day with Olli and Marittaand Sirkku klo 9.47 Cycling from Imatra to Verla. Breakfast after first 40+km. 101st breakfast and coffee in cafe in 2018 // +23C sun calm klo 16.19 Today I cycled from Imatra to Verla. 150km, riding time 6 hours plus 45 minutes of coffee breaks. Full sunshine, no shade, maybe +29c. That’s average riding speed of 25km/h with 12kg of luggage and on a touring bicycle 🚲. Fast enough with very upright riding position. Next, maybe a pint 🍺 or two. Oh, the one and only Sirkku Ikonen took a train and cycled from Kouvola to Verla, maybe some 55km for her. @ Verla, Etelä-Suomen Lääni, Finland klo 17.25 There is happy hour here in Verla. We did get lost - almost to Russia but in the end we managed to find our way to our friends’ summer home. A refreshing visit to the sauna of Ovako steel by the lake Saimaa it is time to have dinner with friends. Maanantai 23.7.2018 klo 8.56 Summer morning by a lake. 23.7.2018 0833 +21C 1m/s SW klo 15.30 Mökin saa vuokralle järven rannasta ja kahvilan läheltä (kera sähkön, juoksevan veden ja sisävesissä) 65 eurolla per yö. Hintaan kuuluu saunavuoro ja soutuvene. Jos vuodessa mökkeilisin kuukauden, se maksaisi 2000€ vuodessa. Jos koko loppuelämäni mökkeilisin kuukauden vuodessa hinnaksi tulisi 80000€. Ei todellakaan kannata Meikämanen ostaa mökkiä. Today: some cycling 🚴‍♀️ to a summer cottage. 22.7.2018 1018 +22C 4m/s SW klo 16.21 The one and only @pedalling_philosopher, Sirkku, cycling 🚴‍♀️ up small hills in the Finnish countryside. @ Finland klo 19.37 Today it was too warm for staying at home doing nothing but just perfect for cycling to a summer cottage. Easy ride from Lahti to Verla, where nice cottages are for rent at rather reasonable prices. 65€/day, including sauna and a rowing 🚣‍♀️ boat. Somewhat romantic gravel roads.
