Nice easy ride organized by Eat Sleep Cycle bikeshop. It is still quite warm. My garmin said 38C when riding into girona. I have, however, acclimatized quite well. My heart rate is at least 20bpm lower than it was a week ago (resting heart rate again below 50bpm in the morning, below 60bpm during a coffee break while sitting in a shadow of a tree at 33C), klo 15.38 Finally I got my Garmin stats from the Els Angels hill climb. Rather steady effort right at my anaerobic threshold (172bpm) or a bit above. I could not have ridden the climb much faster, maybe 10-20 seconds or so at most. Easy does it. klo 16.03 The Girona Gran Fondo completed. It was very nice, with friends. The last 60km the temperature was over 38, at some very steep hills it was 42C. Definitely one of the hardest efforts ever for me. Riding average speed 26,3km/h. There were 4 mandatory stops. 1500m climbed. At least 7 liters of water. Now taking it easy. And some beer. I am off to Banyoles for breakfast and will be back before the weather gets too hot. Decent speed for me, but my heart rate was way higher than it should've been. I think I drank too little. Now very tired. Must take it easier and drink more tomorrow.
