It is Freddie here in the summer cottage camp in Berlin. Such a nice cool morning by the lake. But in 4 hours the sun will reach our terrace and we will have to escape to a 🍺 garden!

Active holiday in Berlin. Canoeing 🛶 Kleine Venedig. So many birds, dragonflies and fish. Hot sun. First time canoeing ever, rather good fun! 2 hours. All photos by Sirkku!

First there was a forest. Then Albert Speer designed a technical university, but the Nazis never managed to complete the building. Then, after the war, the building was too strong for demolition efforts, and the Allies decided to cover it with rubble, of which there was abundance in Berlin. In the end, they built a 100-meter hill. The hill was just perfect for spying on the Soviet Union. The NSA and CIA built a field observation station on the hill. Then the Soviet Union collapsed and there was no need for the observation station. Now, after all this, the Teufelsberg boasts a great collection of very skillful graffiti. And a Biergarten, of course. Worth a visit - and a nice steep climb for cyclists.

Next to the Berg there is a See, or lake. Teufelssee. It turned out to be a nudist beach. The one and only @pedalling_philosopher, Sirkku, took a dip in Devil’s lake. She did wear her swimsuit, though.
